Currently serving as the Dean of the School of Public Health at Nanchang University, and holding the positions of Professor and Doctoral Supervisor. He completed his undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies at Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (formerly Tongji Medical University). He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health in the UK and a member of several professional societies, including the Royal Statistical Society. From 2000 to 2005, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the College of Life Sciences, Huazhong University of Science and Technology; the Clinical Medicine Postdoctoral Research Station of Jinan University; and the School of Public Health at the National University of Singapore. From 2005 to 2007, he worked as a researcher in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Imperial College London. In 2007, he joined King's College London, where he held successive positions as Senior Researcher/Statistical Analyst, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Associate Professor, before being promoted to Full Professor with tenure in 2019. In 2022, he joined Nanchang University on a full-time basis. His primary research areas include palliative and end-of-life care, geriatrics, oncology, and neurological diseases. He has published over 130 papers in international journals. Over the past decade, he has led or participated in more than 30 national or international collaborative research projects in the UK, with a total funding exceeding 200 million GBP. He serves as a reviewer for journals such as The Lancet, PLOS Medicine, and BMJ, and is an editorial board member for multiple academic journals. Additionally, he acts as a reviewer or evaluator for research funding bodies, including the UK National Institute for Health Research, the European Union, and other international research foundations.
Research Directions in Big Data:Application areas include but are not limited to palliative and end-of-life care, health services and policy, infectious and chronic disease management research; non-pharmacological clinical trials; methodological studies.
