Liu Songyang, Distinguished Professor, is a member of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Chemistry from Central South University in 2010, followed by a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from the same institution in 2013. In 2020, she obtained Ph.D. in Chemistry from Hunan University, with her doctoral dissertation honored as an Outstanding Doctoral Thesis of Hunan Province. In 2021, she began her postdoctoral research in Biology at Hunan University and was promoted to Associate Research Fellow in January 2023. She joined Nanchang University in June 2023.

Her primary research focuses on (1) the construction of artificial cells and artificial tissues, and (2) controlled generation of gas molecules such as nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide for metabolic regulation. Since beginning her research career, she has secured seven research grants, including projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and various provincial-level programs. She has authored 13 research papers, with two first-author publications in Nature Chemistry and Nature Communications. Additionally, she holds one invented patent.
